Michael McManus

Chief Revenue Officer

Michael “Mike” McManus is the Chief Revenue Officer at Prevalon, a Mitsubishi Power Americas company. Prevalon is focused on developing and implementing innovative energy storage solutions at utility scale to ensure a more sustainable future. The company empowers its customers by providing them with proven technology and valuable expertise as they navigate the fast-moving global energy transition.

At Prevalon, Mike is responsible for the company’s global business development, sales, and marketing functions. He has over 30 years of experience in the energy sector with leadership positions in sales, business development, business strategy, product strategy, and product line marketing. He joined Mitsubishi Power in 2018 where he served as Vice President of Sales and Commercial Operations for Battery Energy Storage Solutions Globally.

Before joining Mitsubishi Power in 2018, Mike held a variety of roles at Siemens (1996-2017), including leading the strategy and business development for onshore wind, product strategy for gas turbines operating in combined cycle, as well as thermal design and new product development of gas turbines (combined cycle). Early in his career, he worked for an architect engineer with roles in operations, commissioning, and design of combined cycle facilities.

His career began with the Parsons Power Group in 1989 as a mechanical engineer. Mike holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Marine Engineering Systems from the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Alejandro Schnakofsky

Chief Technology Officer

Alejandro Schnakofsky is the chief technology officer at Prevalon, a Mitsubishi Power Americas company. Alejandro has over 17 years of experience in the energy sector with leadership positions in technology development. At Prevalon, Schnakofsky oversees several business areas including application engineering, technical proposal support and product development. He previously held the position of vice president of global strategy for energy storage solutions at Mitsubishi Power.

Prior to joining Mitsubishi Power in 2022, Schnakofsky spent time at Calpine as director of strategic origination, developing project execution models and technical solutions to deploy energy storage at scale. Before Calpine, he was the director of product management and development at Wӓrtsillӓ, implementing product strategy and developing an integrated energy storage system solution that brought in $1B in revenue.

As the director of applications engineering at Flextronics, Alejandro was part of the team that developed and launched a containerized energy storage system white label business from scratch. His career began at ABB in 2005 as an applications engineer and continued through 2014 as a global product manager.

Schnakofsky holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University and a Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Idaho.

Benjamin Hunnewell

Chief Financial Officer

Benjamin “Ben” Hunnewell serves as the CFO for Prevalon, a Mitsubishi Power Americas company. He joined Mitsubishi Power in April 2014 and most recently served in the role of Vice President of Finance and CFO for energy storage solutions. In this position he was responsible for finance and accounting, supply chain, as well as contract management. In his CFO role with Prevalon, he will also oversee information technology, commercial operations, project controls, and legal.

Ben is a U.S. Navy veteran with over 30 years of experience in the energy sector and six years of experience specific to finance within the industry. His civilian career began at Siemens Power Corp. in 1999 as a field service engineer. While at Siemens, he transitioned through roles in project engineering, sales, account management, and project management while completing his undergraduate and graduate degrees. 

From 2008 to 2014, Ben was with the private engineering company IS International Services LLC as Vice President of Operations before joining Mitsubishi Power as a Project Manager. He transitioned to Controller in 2017, focusing on a portfolio of new construction combined cycle gas turbine power projects in North America valued at over $1.5B. 

Ben holds a bachelor’s degree from Reinhardt University in information systems, in addition to an MBA from Strayer University and a PMP certification from the Project Management Institute. As a U.S. Navy Veteran, he enjoys most activities on the ocean, except for combat patrols on destroyers.

Thomas Cornell

President and Chief Executive Officer

Thomas “Tom” Cornell is the president and CEO of Prevalon, a Mitsubishi Power Americas company, headquartered in Lake Mary, FL. Before taking the reins of Prevalon, Tom served as senior vice president of energy storage solutions at Mitsubishi Power. He joined the company in 2017 and has more than 33 years of energy related experience in distributed and utility-scale projects/technologies related to renewables, energy storage, environmental controls, transmission, natural gas, coal, and nuclear generation.

Prior to joining Mitsubishi Power, Tom was vice president of sales and business development for Toshiba America Energy Systems (TAES). He was responsible for leading TAES’ business development efforts and sales force for thermal, hydro, and nuclear related projects. Tom also served as chairman of the board for TAES’s wholly owned subsidiary, TurbinePROs, a union field labor services organization for the steam, combustion, and hydro turbine markets. 

Before joining TAES, Tom was general manager of new generation and transmission projects for Duke Energy (formerly known as “Progress Energy”) focusing on natural gas simple cycle, combined cycle, and air quality control systems (AQCS) related projects. In that role he led all efforts associated with the development, permitting, contracting, engineering, construction, and start-up of new generation, transmission, and AQCS projects.

Earlier in his career, Tom worked for Entergy Wholesale Operations and Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation in a variety of leadership positions related to project development, engineering, and project management. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, as well as a Master’s in Engineering Management from the Florida Institute of Technology.

John Brooks

Chief Operations Officer

John Brooks is the chief operations officer (COO) at Prevalon, a Mitsubishi Power Americas company. In his role as COO, John is responsible for project operations, project management, document control, project engineering, quality and environmental health and safety (EHS), and energy management systems. He came from a similar role at Mitsubishi Power where he oversaw the execution of all battery storage projects from contract signing through commissioning and turnover to the customer.

John has over 30 years’ leadership experience in project execution, engineering, business development, operations, and overall profit/loss responsibility.

Prior to joining Mitsubishi Power in 2020, John spent nearly three decades with Gas Turbine Efficiency, a design and manufacturer of integrated systems for electrical and fluid control, with 15 years specifically focused on project execution.

John is a Black Belt in Six Sigma and holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida (UCF). In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor sports with a focus in water skiing, boating and golf.

Daniel Burns

Senior Vice President, Service

Daniel “Dan” Burns is senior vice president of service for Prevalon, a Mitsubishi Power Americas company. Dan leads field service, remote monitoring, and service business development at Prevalon. He has over 30 years of experience in the energy sector with leadership positions in sales, business development, complex contracting and execution, and has an extensive track record working with developers, EPCs, utilities and suppliers. His expertise in these areas is evident by his previous role at Mitsubishi Power leading a team focused on service contracting and execution for energy storage systems, including Long Term Service Agreements (LTSA) and associated services. 

Prior to joining Mitsubishi Power in 2020, Dan spent over two decades with Siemens Energy in Orlando, Florida. Between 2013 and 2020, he was a new generation sales director, successfully contracting power island and equipment contracts totaling more than $1B. He was a sales manager for the wind power division at Siemens Energy from 2009 to 2013. In this role, he led a negotiation team to secure contracts and sales of wind turbines and related technologies valued at over $2B.

From 2000 to 2009, Dan was a LTSA manager within Siemens Energy’s gas turbine services group where his team increased orders from $150M/yr. to $1B/yr. and was a leader in initiating and growing a fleet approach to maintenance of over 100 gas turbines with an order value of over $3B.  

His career began at Westinghouse Electric in 1989, where he served in several sales support roles, including contract analysis and proposal activities. Dan holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University.
